The San Antonio Chamber of Commerce Aerospace Committee met last week and discussed ways to find additional pathways for key San Antonio region aerospace careers. Specifically looking at trades critical to the MRO industry, the committee, led by Chair Frank Garcia, CEO of Land Aero Group LLC., built a larger list of options for training that the Chamber staff will continue to develop with key partners.

The Chamber staff also provided an update on the efforts by the City of San Antonio’s Economic Development Department to build an economic development strategic plan for the city. They have identified five key industry clusters to include what they call mobility, of which aerospace is a key part. The committee will continue to support the city in this effort and help with details of the plan as it relates to our aerospace sector.

The committee also reviewed the state legislative agenda and approved it to go to the Chamber’s Policy Council later this month. In addition to the agenda, the committee heard from Chamber staff about the effort to build a regional aerospace directory that should be finished next month. Sponsorship opportunities are available for this critical effort which will be shared across the city as we continue to promote the San Antonio regional aerospace industry.
